It is so quiet here at work that you could hear a mouse fart. Why we aren't closed is beyond me but I guess there has to be somebody here to man the fort.
Christmas is over and the clean up began this morning as I put the trash out on the curb for the poor bastards who have to work today. Now we wait until next weeks' New Years eve bash.

Will we party like it's 2004? Probably not, I'll be crashed out before the clock strikes midnight.
I haven't celebrated new year's eve the past few years and this year will probably be no different. I guess I'm beginning to show my age because I used to love to hit the streets and party and get crazy with people I don't even know, but that just doesn't appeal to me any more.
Staying at home with the wife and kids suits me now and I have no complaints.

Christmas Eve... The shopping is done, well almost, I'd still like to pick up something for my wife but that may not be possible.

The tree, a tatered artificial one, is seeing it's last Christmas and will be retired after this Holiday season. But what matters most to our children is the what is under the tree. No "had to have" items are under there this year, not that there ever are, but there are plenty for them to open.

The traditional, well my tradition, Christmas tunes will be playing as soon as I wake up to set the mood for the opening of the gifts. A nice big breakfast will be cooking as the kids crawl out of bed and get ready to tear into the presents. Hot chocolate and pan dulce will also be consumed during the day. It is one of my favorite days of the year.

I'll be wrapping the last of the gifts this evening as I consume a few adult beverages. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Family, friends, food, drinks, laughs...should be a great day!

It's Friday! Oh yeah baby!

Looking forward to the end of the day so that I can get ready to head out to a get together some of the posters at FullSportPress.com and the currently down WOAI, Feedback Zone are having tonight to party and watch the San Antonio Spurs continue their current win streak.
The team is beginning to show signs of what they can be and that they will be a force to reckon with come playoff time. Oh yes, believe it.
If any of you 1's of people that read this blog want to hang out and talk about the Spurs and stuff, check out FullSportPress.com and join us in the forums for some great smack.

Hope everyone out there has a great Holiday season.

As I surf the web and look at the many forums I visit frequently, it is not surprising to see the vast difference of opinions being expressed in regards to the subject of Saddam's capture.
The conservatives are shouting at the top of their lungs how their "Commander in Chief" has proven to the world that the attack on Iraq was justified and the capture of Saddam is just icing on the cake.

I admit that I was against a pre-emptive strike by the U.S. because I felt it was creating a very dangerous precedent for U.S. foreign policy, not because I didn't feel that Saddam was an evil dictator and needed to be removed in order for the Iraqi people to take back their country.
I mean you could make a valid argument that China, Korea and even India and Pakistan pose a danger to the security of the U.S. but should we attack them too? Of course not, that is a ridiculous observation because the U.S.'s relationship with these countries is much different then the one we had with Saddam.

That being said I now realize that it will be a very difficult task for the Democratic Party to win back the office of the president. The need a clear platform on which to run on. The constant sparring being done by the democratic hopefuls is only hurting the party and not advancing each individual candidate's appeal to the voters.

Personally I like John Edwards but feel he hasn't gotten his message out to enough people or they are simply not listening to his ideas. He did a fine job on "Hardball" with Chris Matthews and I feel he really believes in his views and I like that.
Howard Dean is still a mystery to me and I am reading up on him and doing some research on his views and record in Vermont. He must be taken seriously as the polls indicate he is the current frontrunner for the democratic nomination.

The weather has been cooler on a daily basis the past week or so and it is getting me more in the Christmas spirit. It just doesn't feel like the holiday season if the weather is too warm so the cool chill is welcomed.

This past Saturday we volunteered at the "Christmas Under the Bridge" event here in San Antonio and the whole family had a good time. The company I work for sponsors a face painting booth each year at this event so I signed us up to volunteer for a few hours.
My oldest daughter really got into it and painted quite a few faces although some of her artwork was not the best, the kids still smiled when they walked away, and that was the best part of it.

Now if we can catch "The Grinch" on TBS we will be all set. We've already watched the Charlie Brown Christmas, The Wizard of Oz and Rudolph shows this year. The kids just don't seem to get into "It's a Wonderful Life" the way I do. Maybe because I think Donna Reeves is HOT in that movie.

Only 9 more days until the Christmas holiday and there are many things going on around the world that makes me reflect on the many blessings my family has experienced this year.
The old Christmas tree, which I believe is in it's 6th year of use, is up and decorated with lights and red ribbons. The presents are under the tree and the kids are getting excited and looking forward to Christmas morning. I hope it is a good day for us and that the "minor" disputes are kept to a minimum.
Well, Saddam has been captured...what is next?

I think the next few weeks will be crucial as to what to expect during 2004, which is an election year.
Who knows what kind of information will be obtained from Saddam's evil mind.

Where are the WMD? Does it even matter now?...Or did it ever? I don't think so. It was three simple letters that had great effect and a brilliant move by Bush. I give him that.
The constant barrage of information before, during and since this war began is overwhelming to say the least. I find myself constantly flipping from CNN, to FoxNews to MSNBC for the latest on Iraq.

I was truly caught by surprise with the news of the capture of Saddam. I was up last Sunday morning and enjoying a nice big breakfast that my beautiful wife had prepared. Eggs, papas, sausage and tortillas with milk and juice were on the table and we all ate very well.

I have not heard or read much about Saddam's first words or statements since his capture. But what does anyone really expect this man to say? Surely his world has not been the same for quite some time and this sudden turn of events in his life must be taking him for a loop.
I can't even imagine what was going on in his head the minutes before he realized he had been found. Perhaps relief that it is finally over? Knowing that he will be in very protective custody and be well taken care of. Not out of the kindness of the American heart mind you. But rather because we want to see justice handed out and carried out.

This is what the story will be about in the upcoming days. How and where will Saddam be tried? Do we handle this in US court? Do the Iraqi people deserve and demand justice on their own turf? You bet they do and it will be interesting to see what, if any, support he is shown during the trial.
The man is sick and evil in ways we may never know but there will no doubt be some very serious evidence of the terror he created amongst these people. Only time will tell the story.

Well the big bad war in Iraq is over, alledgedly, and everything seems to be getting back to normal.
The 24 hour news channels are not full of war experts making predictions and using their funny little Iraq maps with the toy soldiers showing us where our troops are.
The roar over the Dixie Chicks has subsided and they kicked out their tour last night in South Carolina without a hitch. It appears that forgive and forget still runs rampant in the US....as it should.
Now the biq question that is on my mind is how will the US weather the storm that may come after the war?
With massive deficits staring us in the face, is now the time for big tax cuts? I don't think so.
But hey, I'm no economic major but it doesn't make sense to cut the money coming in when we are so far in the red.
But I'm praying for the best.

On the home front my beloved San Antonio Spurs have beaten the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.
Now the defending World Champion Los Angeles Lakers stand in our way to another championship.
Well, let's get ready to rock!
I have all the confidence in the Spurs but I feel that game one is a very crucial game, one that I am calling a must win for the Spurs.
We cannot allow the Lakers to take a game here at home. Not against the defending champions. We must keep the upper hand at all costs.

Late.

Being that I lean more towards the left side, and have been labeled a liberal, it's been getting rough in the message boards that I post in. But that's okay, I know liberal views are not very popular, have they ever been?, these days so I take my lumps and continue to post my views, however unpopular they may be. Late!
Welcome to my world! A world that is currently filled with issues that will effect all of us in the weeks, if not days to come.

The US may be at war, on a more "real" level, than the so called "war on terrorism" state that we are currently in, very soon and I pray that it will be over quickly with very low loss of human life.

The N. Korean issue scares me a little because I feel that their leader, his name escapes me at the moment, is more unpredictable than Saddam is. All we need is for N. Korea to let go of a nuclear missile and all hell will break loose.

I'll have more later when I can gather my thoughts. Peace Out!
